20th Century Fox

Legendary actress Carrie Fisher died this morning in Los Angeles after suffering Cardiac Arrest. The actress created the role of Princess Leia in “Star Wars” and became a legend. She was also known for overcoming addiction and mental illness and wrote several books on her experiences.

Her prolific work was inspiring to many people and just recently she had released her eighth book. She also completed the eighth “Star Wars” film.

While Fisher was not known for work in opera, her work still made an impact to many of today’s leading singers and opera companies. Like Hollywood Celebrities, many opera stars reacted to the news on social media. Among the stars were Erin Wall, Christine Goerke, Jennifer Johnston, and the Seattle Opera.
