Opéra National de Paris Cancels Run of ‘Die Zauberflöte’

Opéra National de Paris has officially announced the cancellation of the whole run of Mozart and Schikaneder’s singspiel “Die Zauberflöte.”

The opera was scheduled for several performances between Jan. 12 and Feb. 22. 2021.

The cast for the production included Cyrille Dubois, Stanislas de Barbeyrac, Alex Esposito, Florian Sempey, Mélissa Petit, Nicolas Testé, Julie Fuchs, Christiane Karg, Sabine Devieilhe, Nina Minasyan, Wolfgang Ablinger‑Sperrhacke, Tamara Banjesevic, Kai Rüütel, and Marie‑Luise Dressen. Cornelius Meister was signed on to conduct the production by Robert Carsen.

The opera house has yet to mention the status of its unofficially confirmed cancelation of Richard Strauss’ opera “Capriccio (which several artists already noted on their social media accounts)” or the status of operas currently scheduled for performances throughout January and February 2021.
