North/South Consonance To Present Art Songs Inspired by Mystic Poetry from Mexico and Spain

North/South Consonance, Inc, in collaboration with Pan American Musical Art Research, Inc., will present an evening featuring vocalists Conchi Moyano and Anna Tonna accompanied by pianist Max Lifchitz.

The recital will showcase art songs inspired by the poetry of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz and Saint Teresa de Jesus with music by Spanish composers Igor Escudero, Federic Mompou, Joaquin Rodrigo, and Carlos Surinach, and Mexican composers Rodolfo Halffter, Eduardo Hernandez-Moncada, Max Lifchitz, and Manuel de Sumaya.

Mezzo-soprano Tonna recently released an album for Itinerant Classics label, while soprano Moyano recently appeared in Zarzuela performances at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and has performed French and Spanish art songs throughout Spain and Brazil.

The concert will be part of the 13th annual Latin American Cultural Week in New York City with the event taking place at Saint Peter’s Church in Manhattan.

The concert will be held on Nov. 16, 2018 with free admission.
