New Amsterdam Opera Announces ‘La Favorita’ Cast & Dedicates Performance To Dmitri Hvorostovsky

The New Amsterdam Opera has announced the cast of Donizetti’s “La Favorita.”

The opera will star Catherine Martin as Leonora, Steven LaBrie as Alfonso XI, Peter Scott Drackley as Fernando, and
Kevin Thompson as Baldassare. April Martin will sing Inez while Eamon Pereyra rounds out the cast as Don Gaspar.
Artistic Director Keith Chambers will conduct the production which will mark the first production for which NAO will be using the orchestral materials and notes that have been shared with the company by Opera Orchestra
of New York (“OONY”) and Eve Queler.

OONY last performed this masterpiece 17 years ago, in 2001 with a cast that included the late Dmitri Hvorostovsky as Alfonso XI. New Amsterdam Opera’s production is dedicated to the memory of this beloved artist.

“La Favorita” will be performed on One Night Only on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 7:00 PM.
