The Viennese Opera Ball in New York City has been announced and will feature a number of opera’s great stars.

The event, set to take place on Feb. 1, 2019 at Ciprani 42nd Street, will showcase bass Ferruccio Furlanetto as its guest of honor with tenor Javier Camarena, soprano Nadine Sierra, and mezzo Rihab Chaieb as its other major opera guests. All of them will give performances throughout the event.

The gala will benefit the music therapy program at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with support from Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. The honorary ambassador for the Viennese Opera Ball will be Waris Dirie with Jean Shafiroff as the Gala Chair.

A year ago, the gala celebrated René Pape and also featured George Gagnidze, Angela Meade, Luca Pisaroni, and Ildar Abdrazakov. Each soloist took on separate arias throughout the event until they came together for a hilarious rendition of “La ci darem la mano” from “Don Giovanni,” with the four male artists all courting Meade.
