Miami Classical Music Festival Announces 2019 Season

Miami Classical Music Festival has announced its summer 2019 season, featuring over three-hundred performers in over fifty performances. We will focus only on opera and other vocal events.

Opera

The season will open with a double bill of two 21st Century operas, Nico Muhly’s “Dark Sisters” and Osvaldo Golijov’s “Ainadamar.” Performances will be held in the Carl Fisher Auditorium of Miami Beach Senior High.

Performance Dates: Jun. 22 & 23, 2019

Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” part of MMF’s Family Opera series, is “created specifically for young children and will be performed with English dialogue and sung in German with English supertitles.” Performances will be held at the Temple Emanu-El Synagogue.

Performance Dates: Jun. 27 – Jul. 28, 2019

Performances of Mozart’s light-hearted comedy “The Marriage of Figaro” will be held in the Carl Fisher Auditorium of Miami Beach Senior High.

Performance Dates: Jun. 28 – Jul. 27, 2019

MMF’s Opera Studio Program will present “an intimate setting” of Monteverdi’s final opera, “L’incoronazione di Poppea.” Performances will be held at the Miami Beach Woman’s Club.

Performance Dates: Jun. 29 & 30, 2019

MMF’s Wagner Institute will make its debut at the Adrienne Arsht Ziff Ballet Opera House with a full performance of Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman.” Michael Rossi will lead the MMF Symphony Orchestra.

Performance Date: Jul. 19, 2019

The Opera Studio Program will present Jean-Baptiste Lully’s “Armide.” Performances will be held at the Miami Beach Woman’s Club.

The Betsy-South Beach Chamber Series

Performance Dates: Jul. 27 & 28, 2019

MMF students will perform beloved arias during “Opera Aria Night” at the Betsy Hotel and Miami Beach Woman’s Club.

Performance Dates: Jul. 5 – 15, 2019

During “Zarzuela in the Summer Nights,” students will perform classics of “one of the great subgenres of the operatic form,” Zarzuela. The performance will be held at the Betsy-South Beach Gallery.

Performance Dates: Jun. 13, 2019

Opera Institute vocalists will present “Broadway Night,” featuring genre favorites “from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved standards to contemporary theatre pieces ensnaring the hearts of Broadway fans today.” Performances will be held at the Betsy-South Beach Gallery and Miami each Woman’s Club.

Performance Dates: Jun. 18 & Jul. 11, 2019

MMF’s “Opera Scenes Program” will be an “intriguing program of opera and operetta dating from the inception of the art form to current works.” Performances will be held at the Miami Beach Women’s Club.

Performance Dates: Jun. 16 & Jul. 21, 2019

MMF will partner with the Betsy-South Beach Hotel and the City of Miami Beach to present a series of “P’Opera” concerts. Performances will be held in the Betsy-South Beach Lobby.

Performance Dates: Jun. 7 – Jul. 12, 2019
