
Opera Carolina Unveils 2026-27 Season

The company’s 77th season opens with Mozart’s “Requiem” at the Knight Theater, presented in partnership with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and Charlotte Master Chorale. The performance commemorates the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Performance Date: Sept. 11, 2026
The company then presents Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Medium” at the Halton Theater, starring mezzo soprano Denyce Graves.
Performance Date: Nov. 14, 2026
Then comes the third annual gala “A Night to Remember” at the Belk Theater, featuring love duets and guest artists.
Performance Date: Jan. 30, 2027
Then the company presents its annual “Lift Every Voice” program, honoring the contributions of Black composers and artists to operatic and classical music traditions.
Performance Date: Feb. 26, 2027

Performance Date: April 10-11, 2027
Then Opera Carolina partners with the Humane Society of Charlotte for “Pups & Puccini,” an event pairing music with animal adoption outreach.
Performance Date: June 15, 2027
The season also includes the eighth edition of the Marcello Giordani International Voice Competition, presented with the International Lyric Academy and Wilma Ahrens. A concert gala featuring the competition’s winners will follow at the Halton Theater.

Opera Carolina also announced expanded community programming, including Opera Xpress, which brings performances to schools, parks, and community venues; “Musical Storytime,” an interactive introduction to opera for children and families; and “Family Opera,” a series of community concerts. The company additionally launched “Be the Heart of Opera Carolina,” a fundraising campaign supporting artistic productions, education programs, community initiatives, emerging artist training, and accessibility efforts.
