La Monnaie Postpones ‘Les Huguenots’ Opening Night Due to COVID-19

By Francisco Salazar

La Monnaie has postponed the opening night of “Les Huguenots” to June 15.

The company said that in “recent days we have noticed that the number of COVID cases has increased exponentially in our opera house. Unfortunately, this is also true for the production of ‘Les Huguenots:’ several people from the chorus, orchestra, cast, dancers, and technicians have tested positive.”

As a result, in order not to further endanger the safety of the staff, audience, and artists, the company was forced to postpone the premiere from Sunday June 12 to June 15.

“Les Huguenots” is set to star Lenneke Ruiten, Karine Deshayes, Ambroisine Bre, Enea Scala, Nicolas cavallier, and Vittorio Prato. Evelino Pido conducts the prodiction of Olivier Py. The production runs through July 2, 2022.
