How To Watch Salzburg’s ‘Wozzeck’

For audiences anticipating the Metropolitan Opera’s upcoming 2019-20 production of Berg’s “Wozzeck,” they are in luck as and the Salzburg Festival are teaming to present it.

On August 27, the opera will be streamed through Medici.TV allowing audiences around the world to see the acclaimed production by William Kentridge.

The opera, which premiered on August 8, scored rave reviews with critics noting that after “Lulu” and “The Nose,” Kentridge’s “Wozzeck” with his best work to date.

“Wozzeck” stars Matthias Goerne in the title role with John Daszak as Tambourmajor and Asmik Grigorian as Marie. Vladimir Jurowski conducts the Vienna Philharmonic. 

Kentridge’s production is a co-production with the Met, the Candian Opera Company and Opera Australia. “Wozzeck” runs through August 27 at the Salzburg Festival.
