Bruno Ganz Out Of ‘Die Zauberflöte’

The Swiss actor Bruno Ganz has pulled out of Mozart’s “Zauberflöte.”

The actor was expected to appear in the upcoming production of Mozart’s work at the Salzburg Festival, but had to pull out citing poor health. As a result, he will be replaced by actor, Klaus Maria Brandauer.

Ganz is an award-winning actor who is acclaimed for his role in “Downfall” and has also appeared in such English language films as “The Boys From Brazil,” “Strapless,” “The Manchurian Candidate,” “The Reader,” “Unknown,” and Remember.”

Lydia Steier is set to direct the new production with a cast that includes Matthias Goerne, Albina Shagimuratova, Christiane Karg, and Mauro Peter. The production opens on July 27, 2018 and runs through August 30, 2018.
