Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Two Major Cast Changes

The Bayerische Staatsoper announced two major cast changes for two different productions.

The first cast will be seen in “Der Rosenkavalier.” Anna Prohaska will fill in as Sophie joining Angela Brower, Peter Rose, and Adrienne Pieczonka in the final performance of the season.

Meanwhile, Leonardo Caimi will replace Bryan Hymel in “Les Vêpres Siciliennes.” Caimi heroically sang the final act backstage during opening night and performed the second performance for an ill Bryan Hymel. He recently appeared in the opera at the Oper Frankfurt and is currently starring in a new production of “Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci” at La Monnaie. He is also scheduled to perform “Tosca” at the Polish National Opera and “Turandot” at the Teatro Municipal de Chile.

Hymel is expected to return for the final performance of “Les Vêpres.” Meanwhile, Caimi will once again perform alongside  Rachel Willis-Sørensen and Erwin Schrott.
