Bayerische Staatsoper Announces 2018-19 Live Stream Schedule, Starting With Jonas Kaufmann

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced its video-on-demand schedule, which will feature a total of seven performances starting in Dec. 2018.

The first such performance to stream will be Verdi’s “Otello,” featuring Jonas Kaufmann and Anja Harteros. That performance will be streamed on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, and will be available on demand Dec. 4 for 24 hours.

Smetana’s “The Bartered Bride” gets a live stream on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 with Christiane Karg, Pavol Breslik, and Günther Groissböck.

Ernst Krenek’s “Karl V” is next on the slate on Feb. 23, 2018, with a cast that includes Bo Skovhus as Karl V, Anne Schwanewilms as Isabella, and Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke interpreting Franz I.

Puccini’s “La Fanciulla del West” will get a performance live-streamed on March 30, 2019, with Anja Kampe as Minnie, Brandon Jovanovich as Dick Johnson, and John Lundgren as Jack Rance.

Gluck’s “Alceste” gets a showcase on June 1, 2019 with Charles Castronovo and Dorothea Röschmann in leading roles.

“Salome” closes out the schedule on July 6, 2019 with Marlis Peterson in the title role. This performance will be available on July 8, 2019 for 24 hours.
