ARTE To Stream ‘Macbeth’ With Anna Netrebko and Plácido Domingo

ARTE TV and ARTE Concert will stream a new production of Verdi’s “Macbeth.”

The new production by Harry Kupfer is set to star Anna Netrebko in her signature Lady Macbeth and Plácido Domingo in the title role and will be streamed on June 21, 2018. Daniel Barenboim will conduct a cast that also includes Fabio Sartori and Kwangchul Youn.

Netrebko returns to Lady Macbeth after earning raves at the Royal Opera House earlier this season and after having performed the role to great acclaim at the Metropolitan Opera and Bayerische Staatsoper. Meanwhile, Domingo returns to the role, which he has performed with the LA Opera and the Berlin State Opera. The production will reunite the two after having performed in produtions of “Il Trovatore” and concert performances of “Giovanna d’Arco.”

“Macbeth” opens on June 17 and set to run until July 2.

Here is a look at their interpretations, which were released on DVD for Sony Classical and Deutsche Grammophon.
