The Zürcher Kammeroper is set to present “Don Gregorio”

The opera, which is rarely performed, will star Anna Gitschthaler, Judith Lüpold, Christoph Waltle, Valérian Bitschnau, Yves Brühwiler, Erich Bieri, Hartmut Kriszun, and Niklaus Rüegg.

Caspar Dechmann conducts the production by Paul Suter.

The work tells the story of a father who demands that his sons only get involved with women once they reach forty, because he had bad experiences with women as a young, immature man. The opera “L’ajo nell’imbarazzo”/”Don Gregorio” was composed in 1824 and reworked in 1826.

“The opera is set to open on Jan. 4, 2026 and will run through Jan. 18, 2026.
