Young Texas Artists Announces 2025-26 Programming

Young Texas Artists has announced its lineup for the 2025-26 season.

The “Something for Everyone” lecture series will feature “What’s so Grand About Opera?” led by Houston Grand Opera. This lecture will take place on Nov. 6. Other events in the series include An Insider’s Guide to Classical Music” and “How to Listen to a Symphony.”

Programming also related to opera is the Young Texas Artists’ classical music competition. Vocal artists ages 20 – 32, who are either Texas residents or enrolled at a Texas music school, are eligible to compete in the competition, which offers $40,000 in cash prizes, mentoring, and performance opportunities.  The 2025–26 competition will be held March 12–14, 2026, culminating in the “Finalists’ Concert & Awards.”

Previous winners of the Young Texas Artists’ classical music competition include sopranos Penelope Teague, Hannah Moreno, Elizabeth Marlow, and Krista Renée Pape, mezzo-sopranos Joanne Evans and Stephanie Doche, and countertenor Michael Skarke, among others.
