Young People’s Chorus of New York City’s Virtual Benefit Gala Raises $1 Million for Its Children Programs

The Young People’s Chorus (YPC) of New York City, one of the most highly acclaimed choruses in the world, held its annual benefit gala virtually on May 10. The event raised over $1 million that will be used to assist 2,000 children in New York City and beyond. YPC will distribute the funds across all the organization’s initiatives.

Guests from across the world drew international attention to the gala and provided audiences a look at YPC’s program, which is known for its innovative diversity model and artistic excellence.

The gala included a performance by Grammy, Tony, and Emmy Award-nominated singer, songwriter, and actor Josh Groban, with the YPC Choristers joining Groban in the singing of “The Impossible Dream.”

Other highlights included pianist Lang Lang speaking to the importance of YPC’s programs; the debut of singer/songwriter Nate Sabat’s “Fearless Angel” video created through YPC’s Just Songs commissioning program; a preview of YPC’s upcoming The Canon Project; skits including Emmy Award-winning actor, writer, and director Michael Imperioli, Broadway and film actor and singer Norm Lewis and Broadway actress, singer and YPC alum Aneesa Folds; and new choral arrangements sung by over 600 YPC choristers.
