Yannick Nézet-Séguin to Conduct Two Strauss Operas During 2024-25 Met Opera Season

Yannick Nézet-Séguin is set to conduct two Strauss works during the Metropolitan Opera’s 2024-25 season.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, the conductor said that he was going to conduct a new-to-the-Met Claus Guth staging of Strauss’ “Salome” in 2024-25, along with a revival of “Die Frau ohne Schatten.”

The interview also revealed that the Music Director would lead a new staging of Wagner’s “Der Ring des Nibelungen” in later seasons. Interestingly the interview added that the director for the new Ring Cycle had not been chosen. Last year the Met had announced that it was co-producing a Ring Cycle with the ENO, but following the loss of funding from the Arts Council England, the production was left in limbo.

Additionally, the article also mentioned that Nézet-Séguin would conduct the previously announced “Grounded,” which will open the 2024-25 season.
