Patricia Caicedo to Lead ‘Canciones Españolas’ Workshops at Vocal Art Song Festival
By David SalazarNew Mexico’s Vocal Artistry Art Song Festival will welcome soprano and musicologist Patricia Caicedo as a guest artist for “Canciones Españolas.”
During the festival, Caicedo, founder and artistic director of the Barcelona Festival of Song, will work with students on repertoire in Spanish, Catalan, and Portuguese and will lead a Saturday master class titled “The World of Latin American and Iberian Art Song: History, Languages, and Repertoire.”
All the events are set to run from Oct. 23 – 25 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
Caicedo specializes in Latin American and Iberian art song and has performed the repertoire extensively across Europe and the Americas. She has recorded 11 albums, is the author of “The Latin American Art Song: Sounds of the Imagined Nations,” and is the editor of the Latin American and Iberian Art Song Vocal Music Collection.
