The Metropolitan Opera has announced that Yannick Nézet-Séguin has dropped out of the HD performance of “Don Carlos.”

The company noted that conductor Patrick Furrer will lead the performance.

Furrer recently conducted the performances of “Don Carlos” on March 18 and 22 and made his Met debut earlier this season in 2021 in the holiday production of “The Magic Flute.” He has conducted at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Zurich Opera House, Theater Basel, Volksoper Vienna, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, and Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck.

The HD performance of “Don Carlos” is set to star Sonya Yoncheva, Jamie Barton, Matthew Polenzani, Etienne Dupuis, Eric Owens, and John Relyea.

Nézet-Séguin next conducts performances of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in April. He was also slated to lead concerts with the Philadelphia Orchestra on March 26 and 27, but has canceled those as well.
