Yannick Nézet-Séguin Collaborates on New Film ‘Measures for a Funeral’

Yannick Nézet-Séguin has announced that he collaborated on the new film “Measures for a Funeral.”

The Metropolitan Opera Music Director took to social media and said, “World Premiere tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival! I’m proud to have been part of ‘Measures for a Funeral’ with the Orchestre Métropolitain and to keep bringing classical music to the world through the big screen! Thanks to Maria Dueñas for her incredible talents and collaboration, as well as director Sofia Bohdanowicz, Vortex Media, Totem Films, and the entire production team.

The new film spotlights a young academic’s run towards one woman — acclaimed early 20th-century Canadian violinist Kathleen Parlow — as she simultaneously flees from another, her failed musician mother.

This is the latest film that the Nézet-Séguin collaborates on following his work on the Oscar-nominated “Maestro” about the life of Leonard Bernstein. He also collaborated on “Days of Happiness.”

“Measures for a Funeral” is premiering in the Centerpiece section of TIFF and made its World Premiere on Sept. 9.
