
Winona Martin Wins 2025 McCammon Voice Competition
By David SalazarWinona Martin is the winner of the 2025 McCammon Voice Competition.
The mezzo-soprano takes home a $10,000 prize as a result of her efforts and first-place finish. Coming in second was baritone Justin Burgess. He gets a $5,000 prize. In third was Sarah Rachel Bacani; the soprano gets a $2,000 prize.
Rolfe Dauz was the recipient of the Audience Choice Award and the $1,000 prize that goes along with it.
Finally, the event, which was held on March 23, 2025, honored the late Louise Britt Carvey and Dr. John E. Forestner with the Jill and Charles Fischer Award for their service and dedication to the Fort Worth Opera community.
“Every other year since 1985, the McCammon Voice Competition brings Final Four intensity, American Idol vitality, and Oscar Red Carpet style right here to our city,” said Fort Worth Opera General & Artistic Director Angela Turner Wilson, per an official press release. “It’s high-stakes, high-drama, and high artistry — all in one thrilling afternoon.”
