The Wiener Staatsoper’s Technical Director, Peter Kozak, was made an honorary member of the Opera House.

The company honored Kozak following the opening performance of “Pique Dame” on June 21, 2025.

Kozak has worked with the Wiener Staatsoper for 40 years, where he began his career on March 1, 1985, as Technical Director. Throughout his career with teh company, he has played a key role in shaping the opera house, overseeing almost 400 new productions and around 11,500 performances.

Kozak will retire at the end of the season and will be succeeded by DI Ulfried Grabner.

The Wiener Staatsoper will end its season with a production of “The Ring Cycle” and “The Queen of Spades” starring Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov.
