The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its March 6, 2025 performance of Bellini’s “Norma.”

The company said that Dmytro Popov will sing the role of Pollione replacing Juan Diego Flórez, who is ill.

This is the second performance that Flórez cancels. He previously canceled the March 3 performance due to viral tracheitis.

Popov is a tenor who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Wiener Staatsoper, Berlin State Opera, and Paris Opera. His repertoire includes the music of Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovsky, and Bizet.

He is set to join a cast that includes Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, Federica Lombardi, and Vasilisa Berzhanskaya. Michele Mariotti conducts.
