The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a new cast change for its production of “La Fanciulla del West.”

The company said that Roberto Frontali will sing the role of Jack Rance on Jan. 7, 10, 12, and 15.

Frontali will take over for Wolfgang Koch who was announced as a replacement for Carlos Álvarez last month.

Frontali is a well-known Italian baritone who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera, La Monnaie, Brussels, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro di San Carlo, Theater an der Wien, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Teatro Massimo, Palermo, Teatro Comunale, Bologna, Royal Danish Opera, Arena di Verona and the Maggio Musicale, Florence. He is well-known for his Verdi roles.

He joins a cast that includes Malin Byström and Yonghoon Lee. Simone Young conducts the production by Marco Arturo Marelli.
