Wiener Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Macbeth’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of “Macbeth.”

The company said that Anastasia Bartoli and Liudmyla Monastyrska the role of Lady Macbeth replacing the originally scheduled Ekaterina Semenchuk. Bartoli will sing the role on Oct. 12. and 15 while Monastyrska will sing it on Oct. 17 and 21.

Bartoli is known for her Lady Macbeth having performed it at the Tokyo Spring Festival and Opera de Marseille. She is set to perform “Nabucco” later this month at the Berlin State Opera. Meanwhile, Monastyrska has performed it at the Royal Opera House to great acclaim. Monastyrska recently performed in Berlin in a production of “Turandot.”

They will join a cast that includes Gerald Finley, Roberto Tagliavini, and Saimir Pirgu. Axel Kober conducts the production.
