Wiener Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Guillaume Tell’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for Rossini’s “Guillaume Tell.”

The company said that John Osborn would sing the role of Arnold replacing Juan Diego Flórez.

On his behalf, Flórez said, “I am very sorry that unfortunately I have to cancel the revival production of Rossini’s Guillaume Tell at the Wiener Staatsoper because of a persistent cough, due to an ongoing tracheitis. I was looking forward so much to singing again the role of Arnold, and I am sorry for all the fans who would be disappointed by this cancellation.”

Osborn recently canceled L’Elisir d’Amore” in Parma to sing at the Wiener Staatsoper in Guillaume Tell.

He is set to join a cast that includes Lisette Oropesa Roberto Frontali, Maria Nazarova, Jean Teitgen, Iván Ayon Rivas, Stephano Park, Evgeny Solodovnikov, and Carlos Osuna.

The opera is set to be performed between March 8 and 19, 2024
