Wiener Staatsoper Announces Cast Change For ‘Der Rosenkavalier’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced that mezzo-soprano Daniela Sindram will take over the role of Octavian for performances of Strauss‘ “Der Rosenkavalier” on June 13, 16 & 20, 2021.

Sindram will join a cast that includes Albert Pesendorfer as Baron Ochs, Louise Alder as Sophie, and Marlis Petersen as Die Feldmarschallin. The cast is rounded out by Adrian Eröd, Freddie De Tommaso, Regine Hangler, Thomas Ebenstein, Monika Bohinec, Wolfgang Bankl, Wolfram Igor Derntl, Hiroshi Amako, Marcus Pelz, Aurora Marthens, and Jörg Schneider. Philippe Jordan conducts the production by Otto Schenk.

Sindram is a well known mezzo-soprano who has performed at such opera houses as Teatro alla Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Semperoper Dresden, Teatro Real de Madrid, Bayerische Staatsoper, and the Opéra National de Paris, among others.

Next up, the mezzo-soprano is scheduled to perform the role of Fricka in Wagner‘s “Das Rheingold” and Venus in “Tannhäuser” at the Bayerische Staatsoper’s Opera Festival in June and July 2021.
