The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” on March 30.

The company said that Angela Brower will sing the role of Octavian replacing Christina Bock.

For her part, Brower, who has performed the role in numerous productions said, “This is happening! After nearly 10 years, I will be returning to the Wiener Staatsoper  to sing the most iconic role in the city it all began…My beloved Octavian – what an honor to share your story again through the historically beautiful Otto Schenk production under the direction of Axel Kober and reunited with the incredible Julia Kleiter and Christof Fischesser and Angel Romero and so excited to sing the famous presentation of the Rose with Slavka Zamecnikova ! What an Easter gift! Vienna here I come!!!!”
