Olga Bezsmertna & Carlo Vistoli Lead 2024 Premio Abbiati Winners

The Premio Abbiati has announced the 2024 winners.

The award, which is celebrating its 43rd edition from critics, saw “La Juive” from the Teatro Regio di Torino win the production of the year accolade. The opera was conducted by Daniel Oren and directed by Stefano.

The Premio speciale was awarded to the Festival Mahler while the conductor award went to Daniele Gatti.

The Novità per l’Italia went to Lisa Streich’s Concerto for Violin and the Director of the Year award went to Andrea Bernard for his “Don Carlo” produced by OperaLombardia.

The award for stage design and costumes went to Mel Page for “Mefistofele” at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Enrico Baiano won the soloist award and Olga Bezsmertna and Carlo Vistoli won the singing awards.

Other winners included the Trio Sheliak, which won the Premio “Piero Farulli,” Pigmalione di Ristori al Teatro Sociale di Rovigo, which won Iniziativa musicale, and Opera in carcere (Teatro Regio di Parma), which won Premio “Filippo Siebaneck.”

The critics’ awards were decided by a jury that included Angelo Foletto, Alessandro Cammarano, Carlo Fiore, Gianluigi Mattietti, Carla Moreni  Roberta Pedrotti, Sandro Cappelletto, Gregorio Moppi, Cesare Orselli, Stefano Ragni, Francesco Arturo Saponaro, Susanna Franchi, and Lorenzo Tozzi.
