The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of Rossini’s “La Cenerentola”

The company said that Juan Diego Flórez will replace Edgardo Rocha as Don Ramiro.

The company added that Flórez had to cancel the originally planned revival of “Guillaume Tell” because of a tract inflammation. Since he  missed all the rehearsals due to illness, he can not perform the remaining performances of “Tell.” However, he agreed to make his Vienna role debut as Don Ramiro in the upcoming revival of “La Cenerentola.”

The tenor is set to join a cast that includes Vaslisa Berzhanskaya, Michael Arivony, Misha Kiria, Ileana Tonca, Isabel Signoret, and Roberto Tagliavini. Gianluca Capuano conducts.

“La Cenerentola” will be performed on March 15 18, and 22, 2024.
