White Snakes Projects to Present ‘Let’s Celebrate’

The showcase will feature four short operas aimed at shining a spotlight on unique holiday traditions
First up will be “A Braided Light” by Paul Richards and Wendy Steiner; the opera explores the Jewish Havdalah Ceremony. With “Firecrackers” by Guang Yang and Paula Cizmar, audiences will learn more about the Chinese Spring Festival. “Rosa,” by Marina Lopez and Paloma Sierra,” will spotlight the Mexican Day of the Dead.” Finally, “Samiir’s Feast” by Jorge Sosa and Cerise Jacobs will showcase traditions of the Islamic Eid al-Adha.
Among the artists performing in the showcase are sopranos Helen Huang and Laura Soto-Bayomi, mezzo-sopranos Kelly Guerra and Olivia Johnson, tenor Elliott Paige, and baritone Evan Bravos.
There will be two performances on the 10th at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at WGBH’s Calderwood Studio. The second performance will also be livestreamed.
