White Snakes Projects Announces 2022-23 Season

White Snakes Projects has announced its 2022-23 season.

The season kicks off with the world premiere of Elena Ruehr’s “Cosmic Cowboy,” a sci-fi opera that explores the subject of colonization through ancient history and fantasy. The opera will star Daniel Moody, Carami Hilaire, Tyler Putnam, Charles Cotta, and John Paul Huckle. Sam Helfrich directs and Tian Hui Ng conducts the Juventus New Music Ensemble.

Performance Dates: Sept. 16-18, 2022

 That will be followed up by “Let’s Celebrate!” an opera series featuring four short works to supplement traditional holiday programming. The performance stars Helen Huang, Kelly Guerra, Elliott Paige, and Evan Bravos.

Performance Dates: Dec. 10-11, 2022

The season will then continue with “Fractured Mosaics,” which explores anti-Asian racism. The new opera feature music by Benjamin Kono, Randall Eng, Nilo Alcala, Liliya Ugay, and Shirish Korde.

Performance Dates: March 30 – April 3, 2023  

The season ends with a new opera series entitled “Opera Through the Looking Glass” which reexamines the canonical works. The first in the series will be a reimagined “Così fan tutte” by Ryan Oldham.
