The Wexford Festival has made some changes to its 2019 slate.

At the 2018, the festival noted that it would be showcasing “Der Freischütz,” “Adina” and “Don Quichotte” as the major works to lead the event. However, a recent press release, issued on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, has stated that the festival will not perform the Carlo Maria von Weber work any longer.

Instead the slate is as follows.

“Don Quichotte” will open the festival in late October and will be followed up with a series of performances of Vivaldi’s “Dorilla in Tempe.” Per the press release, this production will not only mark the return of director Fabio Ceresa to the festival, but will also be the first baroque opera produced at Wexford since 1985. The production is being presented in association with the Teatro La Fenice.

Rossini’s “Adina” is still set for performance, but it will be coupled with the world premiere of “La Cucina” by Irish composer Andrew Synnott.

As previously announced, there will still be a performance of “The Veiled Prophet” during the festival.
