Opera Theatre of Saint Louis Announces Cast for ‘The Light in the Piazza’

By Francisco Salazar

The Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (OTSL) has announced the cast and creative team for its upcoming 2026 production of “The Light in the Piazza.”

The production will be directed by Crystal Manich and conducted by Rob Berman and will feature a mix of Broadway stars and operatic artists, accompanied by  St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.

In a statement Artistic Director Patricia Racette said, “Ever since I first saw The Light in the Piazza on Broadway, I’ve carried this piece with me. It is one of the most vocally sophisticated scores in musical theater, and it demands the same kind of emotional finesse we ask of our singers in opera. Piazza expands the boundaries of what musical storytelling can be at an opera company and invites audiences to think more broadly about the form while maintaining high artistic standards. Bringing this title to our festival — in an intimate theater, with this cast, and featuring the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra — feels like exactly the way this story was meant to be experienced.”

The cast will include Kate Baldwin as Margaret Johnson, Paulo Szot as Signor Naccarelli, Katrina Galka as Clara Johnson, and Roy Hage as Fabrizio Naccarelli.

“The Light in the Piazza” will be performed on May 30, June 4, 10, 12, 20, and 28, 2026.
