West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Announces New Music Director

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra has named Maurice Cohn its new Music Director.

Cohn is a two-time recipient of the Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award and previously served as the Assistant Conductor for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

He recently conducted the Cincinnati Symphony, Utah Symphony, Amarillo Symphony, Colorado Music Festival, and Symphoria New York. He was also Assistant Conductor of the Aspen Music Festival in 2022 and will return for another season in 2023.

In a statement, the orchestra said, “Maurice looks forward to becoming a ‘West Virginian by choice’ when he moves to Charleston in September.”

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s 2023-24 season is set to open on Sept. 9, 2023.
