By David Salazar

The Wayfarer Sinfonietta is set to showcase “Impossible Things” on May 11 and 12, 2023 at the Esplanade in Singapore.

The showcase, which is the organization’s third presentation, will feature tenor David Charles Tay and violinist Chan Yoong Han as soloists. They will perform under the baton of Artistic Director Lien Boon Hua.

Per an official press statement issued by the company, the performance “explores the light that we find through pain and suffering, in each other and ourselves. Featuring a compelling blend of contemporary classical works, ‘Impossible Things’ is designed to captivate and inspire a new generation of concert-goers.”

Audiences will hear music by Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Nico Muhly, Kaija Saariaho, and John Adams.

Tay has performed in the world premieres of such works as Mark Alan Taggart’s Swan’s Inlet,” Tony Manfredonia’s “Ghost Variations,” and Victoria Bond’s “Gulliver’s Travels,” among others.
