Washington Concert Opera Announces New Health Regulations

By Francisco Salazar

The Washington Concert Opera will require proof of vaccination for its upcoming 2021-22 season.

The organization announced that it will require all guests, staff, and artists to be fully vaccinated in order to attend performances and events until further notice.

The company noted that a “fully vaccinated” person means that either 14 days have passed since receiving the second dose of FDA or WHO authorized double-dose vaccines or that 14 days have passed since receiving the sole dose of FDA or WHO authorized single-dose vaccines.

All guests will have to present proof of vaccination, or, for those who are not vaccinated, proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of the performance start time.

Additionally, masks will be required for indoor performances and events until further notice. All staff, volunteers, and visitors will be required to wear facemasks for all indoor performances and events and will be encouraged to do so outdoors as well.

There will be numerous distancing and safety precautions for all indoor performances including temperature checks for all patrons, staff, and personnel entering indoor spaces as well as limiting audience capacity for all indoor performances. The company will also implement a 35-minute intermission for everyone to use facilities and printed programs will be available for patrons.
