Warner Classics is set to record Puccini’s “Turandot” with Sir Antonio Pappano and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia.

The recording, which soprano Ermonela Jaho confirmed via social media, will star Jonas Kaufmann as Calaf and Sondra Radvanovsky as Turandot. Ermonela Jaho, Mattias Olivieri, Michael Spyres, Michele Pertusi, Gregory Bonfatti, and Siyabonga Maqungo will round out the star-studded cast.

“Turandot” will also be performed as a special performance on March 12, 2022, as part of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia’s 2021-22 season.

The new recording will pair Sir Antonio Pappano and Jonas Kaufmann who have worked on numerous recordings and productions together. Among the complete operas that they have recorded on CD include “Otello” for Sony Classical, “Madama Butterfly” for Warner Classics, and “Aida” for Warner Classics.

Kaufmann and Radvanovsky will reunite following their performances of “Tosca” at the Teatro Real. The two have previously collaborated on “Aida” at the Opera de Paris and “Andrea Chenier” at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
