The Opera Vlaanderen has announced its 2026-27 season.

Opera

Thomas Verstraeten’s “The Uprising of the Facases-The Parade” will be performed.

Performance Date: Sept. 12, 2026


Louis Andriessen’s “De Materie” will star Elmar Gilbertsson, Katrien Baerts, and Lies Pauwels. Bas Wiegers conducts the production by Phia Ménard.

Performance Dates: Sept. 16-27, 2026


Francesco Corti conducts Gluck’s “Orphée et Eurydice” with Sophie Rennert, Ana Quintans, and Jiayu Jin.

Performance Dates: Oct. 27-Nov. 10, 2026

Vuvu Mpofu and Stacey Alleaume lead Verdi’s “La Traviata” with Matteo Ivan Rašić, Matteo Roma, and Kartal Karagedik. Elena Schwarz conducts the production by Tom Goossens.

Performance Dates: Dec. 13-Jan. 9, 2027


The Operalab, the International Opera Academy (IOA) and Opera Ballet Vlaanderen are launching a laboratory for expression and innovation, in which a new generation of opera artists prepares to take the stage.

Performance Dates: Dec. 17 & 18, 2026


Scott Hendricks, Kai Rüütel-Pajula, Vuvu Mpofu, and Daniel Arnaldos star in Franz Schrekers’ “Der Schmied von Gent.” Martijn Dendievel and Jef Smits conduct the production by Ersan Mondtag.

Performance Dates: Feb. 11-28, 2027


Kyungho Kim, Clara Nadeshdin, Ewa Vesin, Michael Kupfer-Radecky, Soloman Howard, and Marcel Brunner star in Wagner’s “Lohengrin” with Stephan Zilias conducts.

Performance Dates: March 11-21, 2027


Steven Prengels’ “De draaischijf” will star Peter Van den Begin and Jan Decleir. Jef Smits conducts.

Performance Dates: April 1-27, 2027


Schubert’s “Winterreise” will be performed by Inge Spinette, Claron McFadden, James Newby, and Thierry Vallier.

Performance Dates: March 21-May 15, 2027


FC Bergman / Peter Benoit’s “Lucifer and De Schelde” will star Esther Verheye, Hugo Kampschreur, and Werner Van Mechelen. Stephan Zilias conducts Stef Aerts and Marie Vinck.

Performance Dates: May 23-June 19, 2027
