By David Salazar

Voices of the Valiant is set to present “Good Tidings of Great Joy” on Nov. 30, 2024 in Lake Worth, Florida.

The showcase, which will feature Madison Marie McIntosh, Nat Simone, and pianist Gregory Ritchey, will spotlight works by Bach, Handel, and Mendelssohn, as well as world premieres by Daniel Gowan and Manne Von M. Also on the program are excerpts from Stéphane Tesan’s new opera “3:16.”

“’3:16′ is an inspirational story of redemption and transformation, loosely based on the real-life experiences of a United States Army chaplain. The young Mary Raven has run away from a harsh and unloving father, only to discover that the outside world is even crueler. She grows up to be Lieutenant Mary James — steely on the outside but unable to overcome her intense anger and guilt… until she has a miraculous experience that changes everything,” said opera librettist Susan Conti per an official press release.

The opera will feature Madison Marie McIntosh and Nat Simone as Mary James and Aurelia Raven, respectively. Liche Ariza will also appear as Vincent James.
