Virginia Opera has announced that Peggy Kriha Miller will step down from her position as General Director and CEO in 2025.

Among the major highlights of Miller’s tenure include the Strategic Plan, which placed an emphasis on equity and inclusion.

“It has been an honor to lead Virginia Opera during such a pivotal moment in its history,” Miller said in an official press release issued by the company.  “I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together, particularly amidst the unique challenges presented by the pandemic. As I transition into the eventual next chapter of my professional life and the prioritization of my family, I am deeply grateful for the support of the Virginia Opera community and look forward to seeing the company thrive in the years to come.”

Miller’s departure coincides with the premiere of “Loving v. Virginia” during the 2024-25 season.

The company has started a search for the next General Director and CEO.
