Véronique Gens, Katarina Bradić, Gaëlle Arquez, Stéphane Degout, Ambroisine Bré Headline Opéra Comique’s 2023-24 Season

The Opéra Comique has announced its 2023-24 season.

First up is Charles Lecocq’s “La Fille de Angot.” Hervé Niquet will conduct a production by Richard Brunel. The opera will star Hélène Guilmette, Véronique Gens, Pierre Derhet, Julien Behr, Matthieu Lécroart, and Geoffrey Carey.

Performance Dates: Sept. 27 – Oct. 5, 2023

For “Macbeth Underworld,” audiences will see Franck Ollu conduct a cast starring  Katarina Bradić, Jean-Sébastien Bou, Maria Carla Pino Cury Mélanie Boisvert Melissa Zgouridi, Hiroshi Matsui, Graham Clark, and children of the Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra-Comique. Thomas Jolly directs.

Performance Dates: Nov. 6 -12, 2023

Offenbach’s “Fantasio” will get a series of performances conducted by Laurent Campellone. Thomas Jolly conducts a cast starring Gaëlle Arquez, Jodie Devos, Franck Leguérinel, Jean-Sébastien Bou, François Rougier, Anna Reinhold, Thomas Dolié, Yoann Le Lan, Virgile Frannais, and Bruno Bayeux .

Performance Dates: Dec. 13 – 23, 2023

Schubert’s “L’Autre Voyage” will star Stéphane Degout, Siobhan Stagg, and Laurence Kilsby. Rapahaël Pichon conducts with Silvia Costa conducting.

Performance Dates: Feb. 1 – 11, 2024

The company will present a double bill featuring Stravinsky’s “Pulcinella” and Ravel’s “L’Heure Espagnole.” Louis Langrée conducts.

Performance Dates: March 9 – 19, 2024 

Mathieu Romano conducts Isabelle Aboulker’s “Archipel(s).”

Performance Dates: April 25 – May 5, 2024

The season ends with Lully’s “Armide.” Christophe Rousset conducts a production by Lilo Baur that stars Ambroisine Bré, Cyrille Dubois, Edwin Crossley-Mercer, Anas Séguin, Philippe Estèphe, Enguerrand de Hys, Florie Valiquette, and Apolline Raï-Westphal.
