Venera Gimadieva, Lise Davidsen, Barbara Hannigan & Franco Fagioli Highlight Concertgebouw Amsterdam’s 2022-23 Season

The Concertgebouw Amsterdam has announced its 2022-23 season. Here are the operatic, vocal, and choral highlights of the season.

Michele Mariotti conducts the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest in Bellini’s “Norma” with Venera Gimadieva, Salome Jicia, Piero Pretti, and Riccardo Fassi.

Performance Date: Sept. 10, 2022

Le Concert de la Loge will be led by Julien Chauvin and will feature soloists Emöke Baráth and Tim Mead. The program will feature works by Vivaldi, Leclair, and Chédeville.

Performance Date: Sept. 17, 2022

Lise Davidsen sings Verdi, Weber and Wagnerise Davidsen sings Verdi, Weber, and Wagner. James Gaffigan conducts theRadio Filharmonisch Orkest.

Performance Date: Oct. 8, 2022

Scarlatti’s “Telemaco” will feature Concerto de’ Cavalieri conducted by Marcello di Lisa. The cast includes Roberta Mameli, Rachel Redmond, Sara Mingardo, Raffaella Milanesi, Arianna Vendittelli, Emiliano Gonzalez Toro, and Magnus Staveland.

Performance Date: Oct. 15, 2022

Widmann’s “ARCHE” will be performed by Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Groot Omroepkoor, Nationaal Kinderkoor, and Karina Canellakis. Sarah Brady and Thomas E. Bauer are the soloists.  

Performance Date: Nov. 12, 2022

The Bach Choir and Orchestra of the Netherlands and Pieter Jan Leusink will lead Händel’s “Messiah” with soloists Olga Zinovieva, Melina Meschkat, Martinus Leusink, and Andrew Slater.

Performance Date: Dec. 4 & 10, 2022

Saimir Pirgu, Anita Hartig, Franco Vassallo, Svetlina Stoyanova, and Linard Vrielink star in Mascagni’s “L’Amico Fritz” with Radio Filharmonisch Orkest conducted by Andrea Battistoni.

Performance Date: Dec. 17, 2022

Händel’s “Messiah” will feature Koor van de Nederlandse Händelvereniging and conducted by Boudewijn Jansen. Judith van Wanroij, Dave ten Kate, Stefan Kennedy, and Raoul Steffani will be featured as soloists.

Performance Date: Dec. 17, 2022

The Bach Choir and Orchestra of the Netherlands and Pieter Jan Leusink will perform a Christmas concert with soloists Jan Vayne, Olga Zinovieva, Eva Schuurman, Melina Meschkat, and Martinus Leusink.

Vox Luminis and conductor Lionel Meunier perform a Christmas concert.

Performance Date: Dec. 24, 2022

Asko|Schönberg and the Bas Wiegers join forces with soprano Katrien Baerts for music by Hilli, Bulsink, Tulve and Torstensson.

Andrea Marcon conducts Vivaldi’s “Giustino” with a cast that includes Valer Barna-Sabadus, Anett Fritsch, Carlo Vistoli, Marie Lys, Emiliano Gonzalez Toro, Kangmin Justin Kim, and Alessandro Giangrande.

Performance Date: Feb. 4, 2023

Nikki Treurniet, Marianne Beate Kielland, Patrick Grahl, and Konstantin Krimmel perform Schumann and Verhulst. Aapo Häkkinen conducts the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest.

Performance Date: Feb. 11, 2023

Rameau’s “Castor et Pollux” will star Judith van Wanroij, Véronique Gens, Reinoud Van Mechelen, Tassis Christoyannis, Olivia Doray, Hasnaa Bennani, David Witczak, and Antonin Rondepierre. György Vashegyi conducts the Orfeo Orchestra.

Performance Date: March 6, 2023

Barbara Hannigan will perform alongside pianists Katia Labèque and Marielle Labèque.

Performance Date: March 25, 2023

Janáček’s “The Cunning Little Vixen” will feature Elena Tsallagova, Jana Kurucová, Iris van Wijnen, James Kryshak, Roland Wood, Markus Eiche, James Platt, Jeannette van Schaik, Esther Kuiper, and Aylin Sezer. The Radio Filharmonisch Orkest will be conducted by Karina Canellakis.

Performance Date: April 1, 2023

Franco Fagioli stars in Porpora’s “Polifemo” with Max Emanuel Cencic, Julia Lezhneva, Sreten Manojlović, Sonja Runje, and Rinnat Moriah. The Armonia Atenea is led by George Petrou.

Performance Date: May 6, 2023

James MacMillan conducts three premieres with Georg Nigl and the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest. The concert will include music by Wagemans, Rihm, and MacMillan.

Performance Date: May 13, 2022

Polyphony and Britten Sinfonia will be led by Stephen Layton conducting music by Pärt, Poulenc, and Fauré’s Requiem. Soloists include Rachel Redmond and Matthew Brook.

Performance Date: May 27, 2023

The Radio Filharmonisch Orkest and John Adams will team up for “The Death of Klinghoffer.” The cast include Elizabeth DeShong, Christopher Maltman, Sarah Castle, Joshua Bloom, Rodrick Dixon, Ross Ramgobin, Olivia Vermeulen, Etienne Dupuis, Anne Marie Stanley, Laetitia Gerards, and Frederik Bergman.
