Vanessa Becerra, Ashley Dixon, & Carlos Santelli Star in Green Lake Festival of Music’s ‘An Evening of Opera’
By Afton Wooten“An Evening of Opera” closes the Green Lake Festival of Music’s 45th season.
Fan-favorite arias, duets, and trios will be performed by soprano Vanessa Becerra, mezzo-soprano Ashley Dixon, tenor Carlos Santelli, and collaborative pianist Laurann Gilley.
In a press release Gilley said, “I’ve been hearing great things about the Green Lake Festival of Music for a long time, through friends who have performed here, and also from loyal fans. I love bringing some of my favorite music to both dedicated music-lovers, and also to someone who might be hearing this genre for the first time. Plus, I know that anything my friend Sam Handley (GLFM director) is organizing has to be fantastic!”
Since 2016, the Green Lake Festival of Music has offered concerts without direct charge, instead relying on generous support from grants, corporations, sponsors, and free-will donations at concerts. The festival serves concertgoers from Wisconsin and out-of-state communities. Throughout its history the festival has featured a roster of nationally and internationally acclaimed musical artists, with strong connections to the Green Lake area.
“An Evening of Opera” will be presented at the Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake on July 19 at 7:30 p.m., with a pre-concert talk at 7 p.m.
