By David SalazarTulsa Opera is teaming up with ACTION Tulsa, the YWCA, and the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art to host “Opera Echoes: Who Is My Neighbor?” on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art.
The evening will feature live performances by Tulsa Opera’s Filstrup Resident Artists, personal stories from Tulsa-area refugees, and opportunities to learn more about the city’s refugee communities.
“With Opera Echoes: Who Is My Neighbor?, we’re using opera as a lens to reflect on the real-life experiences of refugees living in Tulsa today,” said Dani Keil, Tulsa Opera’s Director of Community Engagement, per an official press release.
Kelli Driscoll Crews, ACTION Organizer, added, “Many of our immigrant neighbors in Tulsa have made daunting journeys to safety just like the von Trapp family did. I look forward to sharing about the extraordinary bravery of those who left their home country and made Tulsa home.”
Tulsa Opera is set to present “The Sound of Music” this November.
