The Vienna Philharmonic has announced that the New Year’s Concert 2027 will be conducted by Tugan Sokhiev.
The orchestra said that its artistic collaboration with Tugan Sokhiev began in 2009 during an Asian tour in Seoul and was followed by joint appearances at subscription concerts in Vienna and in many other cities around the world.
In 2025, in addition to subscription concerts and a European tour, he conducted the Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert, as well as the gala concert celebrating the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss, Jr.
In a statement, the chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic, Daniel Froschauer, said, “Tugan Sokhiev has been a close musical and personal friend of our orchestra since 2009. Our first performances together quickly fostered a strong sense of mutual musical trust and understanding, which since that time has continuously deepened and developed. We look forward with much anticipation to our future projects and the upcoming New Year’s Concert.”
