
‘TRIÂNGULO: A Mixed Martial Arts Opera’ to Get Preview Showcase in Albuquerque
By David SalazarAudiences will get a chance to preview “TRIÂNGULO: A Mixed Martial Arts Opera” on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Jackson Wink MMA Gym in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The work by Martin Bejereano and Crystal Manich is under development and the preview showcase will be directed by Manich and features fight / dance choreography by George Birkadze. Alex Lacamoore will be the orchestration consultant and Greg Jackson will be the fight consultant.
“I am thrilled to invite our network to experience a taste of ‘TRIÂNGULO,’ a bold fusion of opera and mixed martial arts that pushes the boundaries of live performance,” said Joseph Specter, executive producer and original concept creator of ‘TRIÂNGULO,” per an official press release. “This exclusive preview offers a rare, up-close opportunity to enjoy live musical selections, dynamic fight choreography, and in-depth conversations with our extraordinary creative team—all within the legendary setting of Jackson Wink MMA.”
The work tells the story of a young Brazilian woman who escapes the favela to create a better life for herself and her younger brother by powering through the male-centric world of professional fighting.
The work was previously previewed at the Florida Grand Opera back in August 2024.
