Transgender Baritone Lucia Lucas’ Documentary Announced

Kirkpatrick & Kinslow Productions have announced it is green-lighting a cutting edge, timely documentary entitled “Lucia’s Voice (Working Title).”

The new film center on internationally renowned opera star Lucia Lucas will perform the title role in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the Tulsa Opera in May. Lucas is set to be the first baritone transgender woman performing a lead role in an opera in the United States.

The new documentary will see Emmy Award-winning KKP Producers Russ Kirkpatrick & Andy Kinslow joined by L.A. based Executive Producer Josh Bachove and director James Kicklighter. The documentary will also feature the Tulsa & Oklahoma crew.

Principal filming on the documentary begins in April and the film will look into Lucas’ life, and her love of opera, in addition to examining the affection of the mid-sized modern American city of Tulsa. The film crew will visit Dublin, London, Brussels & Berlin and to her home state of California.
