Trala Holds Event ‘Building the Future of Music Education’

By Francisco Salazar

On Sept. 29, 2021, Trala held its first ever in-person event, “Building the Future of Music Education.”

The event began with a keynote address from Trala’s CEO Sam Walder, who shared his vision of everyone having access to quality music education at the tip of their fingers.

Walder revealed Trala’s plans to extend the courses outside of the violin sooner rather than later. Trala instructors Rachael Miller and Monique Brooks Roberts each showcased the creative possibilities of the violin outside of the classical repertoire while Miller performed on the electric violin with a fun-filled pop mashup accompanied by a backing track.

Meanwhile, Roberts’ performance featured improvisation with piano. The concert portion of the event closed with a performance featuring Trala ambassador violinist Joshua Bell accompanied by Alessio Bax performing an arrangement of Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino Caro.”

At the end of the event, Trala students discussed the bright future of Trala.

The event will be live streamed on Oct. 9 on Facebook.
