The Salzburg Festival has canceled the upcoming live broadcast of Puccini’s “Tosca.”

According to reports, the broadcast, which was set to be aired on Arte.TV and ORF on August 27, was canceled due to “organizational and dispositional” reasons.

However, other sources noted that star soprano Anna Netrebko, who is currently performing the title role, did not approve the recording at short notice. Netrebko was forced to cancel the dress rehearsal due to a cold but still performed during the opening night.

There is still a recorded broadcast set to be streamed on Sept. 16 through Arte.TV in France starring Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, and Ludovic Tézier with Marco Armiliato conducting. More details to follow on whether the opera will be recorded or not.

“Tosca” is set to run until August 31 with four performances in total.
